Kerala Backwaters, houseboat in Dec.?

I will be in Kerala around December 21. We're looking for a houseboat for 2 nights (4 adults, 5 children, 2 babies).

What can we expect to pay?
Do we book in advance or once we arrive in Kerala?

Hi Tashi,

Apologies for the late response to your Query.

As you may allready know Dec is Peak Season,
I strongly suggest you inspect the Houseboats before you choose one,eventhough its peak season
there are plenty to choose from.

At a rough estimate you should be expecting to pay
around 15,000 - 20,000rps for O'night Cruise.
With your Large group you will need a decent size
Houseboat(3 - 4 bedrooms)Reccomend A/C to help against mosquitos,make sure you have ample insect
Repellent,especially for Children.Don't forget prices include meals & usually Bottled Water.
For 2 nights on Houseboat I would haggle for
30,000rps.

In May, I would Imagine the Prices would be a
lower as it is Very Humid & Hot and just Before the Monsoon arrives in June so Operators would be
Keen to Get Whatever Business they can.
