kathakali dolls
hi everybody:
i'm right now in kochi, kerala, and i want to buy a katakhali doll (something that even the webpage of the tourism dpt. of kerala says that i can do.) however, searching and searching in the kochi handcrafts shops, i've found NOTHING. do you have any advice of a shop that i don't know, or a place in kerala where i could get one? i mean, i wouldn't mind going to trisur, for instance. they tell me that my chances of finding what i'm looking for are better there. you see, i think i need one of these dolls to live. really  thank you so much in advance. (if you have any idea of a price or something, that would be cool also...) cesar |

Did you check the Kerala handicrafts emporium in MG road (run by the state government). To the extent I remember it was near the Parthas shop but dont remember too well. Last time I was there, they had a couple of them but not too sure if they still do, but its the best place to look for.
Incase you are planning to Trivandrum, you can find loads of them in the shops in front of Padmanabhaswamy temple in East Fort. Also SMSM institute next to the government secretrait is a good place to buy in TVM. 2cents - where are you ????

You could try a call to Cochin Cultural Centre. I don't recall them selling anything except maybe few books, but they should know if anyone else does... I got the card from one of their musicians who I met three years ago, hope the numbers are still current 0484 380366, 368153, 365419, 353732
