karala backwaters, which is the best route?

I have read most of the postings already, flipped through all travel books, but I am still not really sure of which of the routes out there will be the best one??
can you shed some light here?
we are planning to go on an overnight stay.
Should you be able to provide an travelagent suggestion or even a company running tours we would be even happier;-))

It depends on your travel plans and budget as well. Staying in houseboat only for one night, then I would suggest Alleppey around. If you are proceeding to south, Alleppey - Thottappally / Alleppey - Alumkadave which costs more. Alleppey - Alumkadave is longer and has much diversity.
