We had a greatttttt time at Thekkady and Munnar. At Munnar we stayed at Johne' s Homestay. The stay was woderful.. reasonable price too.. It is situated around half a kilometer from Munnar. U just cross that iron bridge and drive towards to kochi route after half a kilometer on the left side of the road John's Homestay will come. It is on the bank of a river. Nice stay If u wish they will provide breakfast and dinner too.. ![]() Gud homely food. will write more abt this travel soon. ![]()

Yes u can take a rickshaw.. It is actually walkable distance (half a kilometer from the bus station) but, if a person with lots of luggage better take the help of a vechicle. Infact u can contact Mr John he mgt arrange something to pick u up too.. In my case i drove down to Munnar from Trivandrum so i didnt take his help for transportation. The price for the room is Rs 1500\day. In the peak season it mgt go up to 1700. If u r planning to visit this year ..u better call him up now itself..His rooms are in high demand. Have a great time.. |

Unprofessional attitude by Joseph Iype
I finally visited Munnar. It is a great place. However, Mr. Joseph Iype was major disappointment.
I want to make sure that I have some nice place to stay as I was traveling with my kids. Before leaving to Munnar, I spoke to Mr. Joseph for reserving his cottage and he ensured me that cottages will be available. We fixed up a time that I will be reaching Munnar between 11AM to 12Pm and he promised that he will be waiting for me in his office. We had great journey to Munnar from Cochin. However, when I reached his office at approx 11:30AM, he was not in his office or home and completely untraceable. We were tired as we had long flight previous day but we decided to wait. We waited till 1 PM without any trace of Mr. Josheph Iype. There was an old man (Thomas) was in his office, but he was least helpful and had no clue of Mr. Joseph's whereabouts. Eventually, we felt like lost and started inquiring about another good place. Sadly, I lost John’s address. Finally, another person who was standing there & watching our situation from more than an hour helped us finding new place-a resort few miles away from Munnar town. In evening when we again visited Munnar town, I tried to give Mr. Joseph a courtesy visit, but his behaviors was completely unprofessional. He made a statement which was quite offending – “I do not trust Indian-they don’t keep their promises”. We need to call an outsider (the one who runs phone booth next to his office) to prove that how long we waited there & suffered. He then started blasting Thomas (his servant) for not taking us to his cottage. However, no sign of any apology to us for his behavior and statements he made for Indians. Anyway, we were very upset and left his office in very bad mood. I had really high expectation when I heard about him in this forum but anyway………. Thanks everyone for your help and answers to my queries. Really appreciate. |

I gave the number and address of John since I knew very well they will give a very +ive approach to you even if their place is fully booked. And mentioning my name would have made him help you more too. More over we just stayed and came back. From Pooppara itself we used get in touch (we were driving up from Thekkady) with each other and by the time I applied the brake of my car at munnar bustation he called and said he will guide us further.. . Though he stays with his family at Adimali he will be available at the homestay all day till 11.30 Pm. Very approachable kind of a person too.![]() Sorry to hear u had a hard time ![]() U C one thing I have learned about travel tips are always take the advise of the people who travelled recently. .or real travellers who stayed in the same place. Dont believe in the advertising websites fully. I too had bad experiences booking the rooms just after looking into their websites. Learned some lesssons and Now only take the adivse of fellow travellers.![]() Munnar is beautiful rite? So forget the minus now and enjoy the rest.. ![]() ush |
