| Itiniery help! Hello people.... like I said in my previous post, I'm trying to work out a 7-10 days honeymoon in January to Kerala. I would appreciate your inputs to help me chalk out a plan. So far, looks like Fly into Cochin stay for a night Travel to Munnar next day Stay at Munnar for 2 nights Travel to Thakkady/Periyar (not sure if we need to stay overnite) Travel to Kumarakom(stay over for 2-3 nights) Backwater cruise to Allepey Stay over at Allepey. Travel to Kovalam/Varkala beach(stay over) Fly out of trivandrum. My main questions are 1)Is the order correct? 2)Is the time of year fine to visit the places mentioned? 3)Does it feel like we're squeezing in too much? 4)Any places we've missed out or need to omit? All your suggestions are welcome. |

| I would say that the minimum time needed for this itinary is: day 1: arrival in Kochi day 2: travel to Munnar day 3: in Munnar day 4: travel to Periyar day 5: in Periyar day 6: travel to Kumarakom day 7: in Kumarakom day 8: travel/cruise to Allepey day 9: travel to Varkala day 10: travel to/fly out of Trivandrum My rule would be to never travel two days in a row; especially because your destinations are quite far apart leading to long travel times. The problem with not staying over in Periyar is that you would have to spend most of the day getting from Munnar, through Periyar, to Kumarakom. Even with the adjusted itinary above, I think you would probably find it a bit too much for a 10 day trip (especially for a honeymoon which is supposed to be relaxing?). You could choose or be inspired by the route described in Jim and Wendy's amazing travel blog: http://www.interlog.com/~wwhite/india.html#TOP |
