Hi all,
This is my first posting in this forum asking for advise and I would like to thank you all. This is my first attempt at an itinerary and I would be very grateful for anybody to be as critical as necessary to ensure that we have a good holiday. We are quite used to travelling by public transport and working things out or changing mid flow if there are any problems Fly from England to Trivandum and stay for 3 nights to sightsee and recover. Take bus to Kollam 1 night Boat 8 hours to Alleppey, stay 3 nights Boat to Kottayam and bus to Munnar to stay 3 nights Bus To Cochi stay 4 nights Train to Kozikotide, then 2nd train or bus to Kannur stay 3 nights Train back to Cochi stay overnight Train or bus to Kovolam or Varkala stay 5 nights. Fly back to UK. This leaves us 1 spare night. Do you think this is doable? we really do not like sitting around pools or beaches but need a rest at the end. We do realise it is very busy but are worried if it is not workable. Thank you Chris |

I think that looks fine, and is definitely doable. Trivandrum isn't that exciting, so you may want to move on a bit sooner. 4 nights might also be a bit much for Cochin, but it really depends on your interests.
You definitely have enough time, and if you keep your itinerary flexible you'll be able to stay longer at the places you like most. |

Kovalam is just about 30-45 mins drive from Trivandrum.Varkala is about 1.5-2 hours from Trivandrum. So you might want to replan in case it makes sense.I really enjoyed Varkala.By the way there is a boat ferry from Kollam to Allapuzha(Allepey). In Cochin try to stay in Fort Kochi. From the main town there is ferry every one hour I guess. When you are in Kochi try and visit the Elephants resting place a little distance from town.On some days if you go early in the morning you can see how the mahouts bathe their elephants. Its a different expereience. Have fun guys. |

Hi
Your itinerary look fine and you have enough days to make it flexible. We were last December in Kerala and to our surprise for most trains we just needed to reserve a few days before. Do you know that there is a direct train from Kannnur to Varkala? Kannur Varkala |
