Is prior Hotel Booking required in Munnar 15Dec to 18 Dec ?
Hi Frndz,
On 15Dec evening we will be heading straight from airport to Munnar. We are planning to stay there till 17 or 18 dec. Please advice for the below queries:- 1) Is prior hotel booking advisable in those dates (15Dec to 18 Dec). 2) Our preference for hotel would be scenic surroundings. So should we go to the town or should we look for other nearby hotels. |

I am a little confused about this. I have read conflicting reports several times about accommodation in the region in December.
Some have suggested pre-booking due to peak season, while others have said (especially for places Munnar) that it isn't peak season for Indian travellers because it will be cool then. As I am going to be there (in Kerala) a little later than the OP will I still be able to find accommodation once I am on the ground, or should I be making a few phone calls now? |

It is all in the dates...
The original poster had called out the dates clearly..upto Dec 18th which is a Friday. typically hotels mark out dec 20th to jan 5th as peak season as school holidays set in. The peak season will kick in immediately after that...and so if you are scheduled to travel any time after that upto jan 5th or so, you are better of booking in advance. ribhu |

Thanks Ribhu. Guess I will have to start making a few calls as some places don't seem to be answering emails then.
Luckily skype calls are fairly cheap to India ![]() |

My preferences would be 1)Any neat and clean Hotel/ Home Stay between 500 to 1500. Or max up to Rs. 2000. 2) Should be walkable (up to 1 km) from main market. 3) Lastly if it has beautiful view from room then better...... I hope I am not asking too much. If any one has specific hotel names then please let me know. I don't have problem in booking beforehand. |

another possibility
Green View Hotel: Ph: 04865 230940
Definitely in your budget, and in walking distance main market. Chitra0828 and her family recently returned from trip to Kerala, and stayed there; said it was basic, convenient, clean , helpful staff (helped arrange treks). They posted a long, fascinating, and detailed trip report recently which is excellent reading!!!! |

It was three years ago so check they're still open, but JJ Cottages was good and at the lower end of your budget. I've done a review in the hotel section. http://www.indiamike.com/india-hotels/reviews/4678/
