Is it safe in Varkala?
Hi
we are in Alleppey at the mo but are travelling to varkala tomorrow. have rang ahead and they said it was fine etc, and we know there was no deaths or casualties etc but we just want to make sure its safe before we head off. Any advice would be great. Anyone staying there at the mo would be a great help to give us peace of mind!! We are booked into Preeth Resort. Will check this again in a while thanks a million!!! |

Please be rest asured that Varkala is FINE. There were no serious injuries and life here is pretty much back to normal although the beach is still closed, but thaT shouls change in the next day or so.
There seems to have been much more potential risk in Allepy. You will also be staying at a VERY nice hotel ! |

You will see when you get to Varkala how high the cliffs are above the ocean so you are well away from troublesome seas.
While butterball is correct about the safety of Varkala - it is a lovely chilled out place most of the time - beware of the seas there anyway. The currents are extremely dangerous there so don't go into the sea except where there is a lifeguard. There have been several drownings here. Be warned but enjoy this lovely spot. rab
