Couple of people I know have stayed at Hotel Excellency in the past 6 months they found it a clean and good value-for-money place to stay. Its situated off the arterial M.G road and about 1 km from the Ernakulam Junction Railway Station. There are a wide range of restaurants, few coffee shops, a museum, art gallery, numerous shopping centers etc situated at walking distance from the hotel. So if you aren't particular about staying at a laid back area of the city like Fort Kochi, away from the hustle and bustle of the business/commercial zone, then Hotel Excellency makes for a pretty good choice.

Would agree with 2cents. We rent a house there about 400 metres from this hotel. Love the area because it is not touristy. Frys Village Restuarant is a great place to eat good Keralan food.

I did a search on flickr.com for the Hotel Excellency and came up with some pictures of a room and the restaurant. Here is just one:

Then, you can do a browse of the album and come up with 3 or 4 more shots. I hope it helps.
