Honeymoon in Kerala in July

Hello,
I am planning for honeymoon in Kerala-Kumarakom in the last week july. I know it's monsoon season, but still I love to enjoy my honeymoon in Kerala . What I want to know, how worst the monsoon in Kerala ? Is it like flooding everywhere and you cann't go outside ? Going through the multiple threads I come to know 1 Resort i.e. Coconut Lagoon. I have also checked couple of more resort like Taj and 1 more. Has anybody tried Taj Garden Treat at Kumarakom? Which will be best Taj or Coconut Lagoon. I know this is not travel agent site, but people are also sharing there stay experience.
As common nobody want to spoil there honeyymoon at landing in worst condition .

In the days when I had a job and travelled from England on holidays, I used to stay at Coconut Lagoon. I always thought it would be an ideal honeymoon location --- if you can afford it!

I don't know the nearby Taj (which will be at least as expensive, I guess) but was told Coconut Lagoon is better.

I've been to Kerala (from Chennai) just to spend five whole days at Coconut Lagoon --- and if I could afford it, I'd do it again

It is a lovely place. Do be aware that that it is very much a rural lakeside location, and there is not a lot to do other than enjoy the view, the birds, the boats. Being there in Monsoon, when even getting from your cottage room to the restaurant could be an adventure in itself. You could feel somewhat restricted.

The rooms, cottages, are old teak wood, quite plain, not very spacious. The mansions, where you go upstairs to the bed, are more commodious. It is not a soft-furnishings-and-carpets five-star location, but has a great ambience and is expertly and efficiently managed.

I do remember talking to the manager there and being told that they are booked up pretty much all year, including the monsoon.

Actualy, I want to go to Kerala next month, because I am interested in property there, and want to see it at its worst! Otherwise, I've been in May, and I've been in August.

How is the Kerala monsoon, generally? Anything from very, very wet (sunny intervals, though) to disruptive and dangerous. Expect travel to be disrupted.

Honeymoon in Keral In July

Thank Nick-H for the detail information. Yes being 2 yrs in Europe - Amsterdam, I prefer spending good time in nature beauty without any noise polution . What about Pool Villa ? checking coconut lagoon site, it seems it's total separate apartment with pool (not require in monsoon . After more searching on indiamike I found 1 more resort www.eastend.in (Lakesong), which is also look nice. Now with past experience, most of the resort put beautiful picture on there site and in reality it's quite different. I started with checking House boat, but I found you won't get much privacy and i guess it's good option for holiday couple not for the honeymoon couple .

1 more question what abt North Hill Station - Masoorie / Uttranchal ? I don't want to visit commercial hill station like Kulu / Manali / Shimala. Considering Piligrims in month of July, I bit worried abt North. Masoorie is good places but not for more than 2 days stay. I am checking Joshimath, but how;s the accomodation facility there ?
