Honeymoon from Chennai to Wayanad by car
Hi All,
I am planning for a honeymoon trip in my car in the below route.
Chennai --> Bangalore --> Mysore --> Wayanad --> Chennai.
As of now we have planned to stay a night in Mysore and 3 nights in Wayanad.
Need more help from you all to decide on the places to see in Mysore and Wayanad. Would like to see more places enroute.
Thanks

Hi & welcome to IM,
Not sure If you have any real reason to go to Bangalore,IF NOT you may want to consider heading up to Ooty Area and then go from Ooty to Mysore.The route from the back of Ooty down is quite spectacular and If I remember correctly you then go through a Wildlife park(Mudmalai)on your way to Mysore.
On your return Journey you may want to also consider comming down the Kerala coast and then up to Munnar,across to Kumily(Thekady)over to Madurai and back to Chennai, or you could go from Munnar north to Marayoor through to Theni and back to Chennai that way, both of these routes have amazing scenery.
vandy
BTW If you have the Time Coorg area may also be worth Visiting.
Hi Vandy, Thanks for the reply. The initial decision was to go to wayanad by train(pickup and drop from calicut). But since my resort guys quoted too much I decided why cant I drive myself from Chennai to wayanad. So Bangalore Mysore route looked to be the shortest. I thought of travelling to chennai - mysore - wayanad - ooty - chennai. This way I could restrict the kms I spend driving.

+1 for vandy.
@ Aravindh - I've done Bangalore ooty-wayanad-bangalore in jan 2005 in my own car. The stretches through the mudumalai sanctuary (and bandipur on the karnataka side) are excellent drives - reminded me of lord of the rings forest in part (really dense and dark). You may want to consider that trip.
I have no photos of that trip here in this computer but from what i recall, in Wayanad we went to Edakkal caves, Pookote lake (and that's a perfect honeymoon spot), meenmutty falls (soochipara falls are better i think). If you're going for a honeymoon, consider vythiri resorts - expensive but supposedly great.

I'm not sure if a couple on a honeymoon would want to spend 12 hours+ driving
(That's the absolute minimum it would take to get to Mysore via Ooty). So if Mysore is the place where you prefer as an intermediate halt, your plan (going via Bangalore) would certainly be the fastest - Even that could take at least 8 hours.
Plenty of places to visit in and around both locations - but I'm not sure you'd want to make it a "sight-seeing" trip, may be visiting a few non-touristy places would be better. Having a vehicle at your disposal is a big plus - especially in Wayanad where most of the places are at least 20-30 kms apart. Which resort are you planning to stay in ?
