Holiday in Kerala: Tour company or hotel suggestions?

My husband and I would like to find somewhere relaxing for a few days at the end of our India trip. We were interested in spending time in Kerala. Does anyone have a place they would recommend or a tour company that can help us arrange transportation. We will be there from Dec. 29 through Jan 2nd. Because of the High Season dates we are having trouble finding availability. Perhaps a totally different location would be better. We are open to suggestions. Thank you.

kerala tips

Hi,

i can suggest many great places in kerala which are well woth the visit....Varkala ranks as my favourite in kerala where it is possible for any traveller to find the space and time to really unwind. The mountains have absolutely great places to stretch your legs and take off for a nature walk and the house boats are ideal for letting the time slip away. The budget is reasonable and well worth in most cases. I can off handedly reccommend a few places that no traveller should give a miss.

Varkala Cliff :The Cliff Lounge Guesthouse or Hill View Beach Resort

Allepey: Kait's Home Stay

Cochin: The Old Courtyard / Saj Home Stay

Munnar: Tea County

Periyar:Aranya Niwas - KTDC hotel on the periyar lake inside the sanctuary

Kumarakom: Paradise resorts.

and the lovely people of kerala with thier sweet smile and courteous manners will ensure that you return....have a great time in kerala!

Thank You for your suggestions.
We will only be able to stay for four nights.
Any suggestions how to spend them? Which were your favorite? We're looking for one on the beach and maybe one in the backwaters, but are open to any experience.
We're also having trouble finding availability for our holiday dates.
Airfare has been very expensive do you think it better to book through an agent for a combined package?
Thank you again for your help. I've been looking at the places online and they all seem very nice.

Hi caryn,

I can Highly Reccomend the website in post number 2 by Richard.

I have stayed at this place, it was just fantastic, Jenny & Jose
will take very good care of you. They also run their own little
travel business and will be able to also arrange an overnight
houseboat cruise for you.

Their "Gone with the Wind" Homestay is Magnificent, and so is
the food they prepare.

The name of the place is called Le Royale. They will also meet
you at the airport if required.

All the Best

Vandy

Thanks again everyone! I've contacted Jenny and Jose and am looking forward to their reply. My fingers are crossed that they can help us. Should we just stay there for the four days or do a tour of a couple different places? Maybe fly into Cochin out of Trivandrum or vice versa?
Hans, I enjoyed reading your journal. I'm sure it's been very helpful for many travelers.
Thanks again.
