Hiking at Athirampally and Valachal falls, Kerala

Hi all:

1. On our way from Thrissur to Cochi (driving) we were thinking of stopping off at Athirampally falls. Is it better to do it that way, or to stop there on our way from Kottayam to Munnar (via kaladi)?

2. Does anyone of hikes around the falls that we can access if we are visiting mid-August?

3. Any thoughts if there will be issues accessing the falls (since we'll be in the last innings of the monsoon season)? For example: might access be closed etc?

Thanks for your advice.
