Its from the 21st morning ex Nedumbassery: 3 nights at Periyar in the sanctuary, 4 nts Munnar - Chinnakanal actually, at the Siena lodge, then 2 nights at the Bird Lagoon at Thattekadu. We will have the car throughout so can stop and enjoy where we like. Im just praying that it doesnt rain while we are in Periyar so that we can see a fair bit of wildlife, dont mind a bit of rain in the Munnar area as it will make it nice and misty. And I will be very upset indeed if I dont see all my Western ghat butterflies at Thattekadu. Also hoping to see the muniyara dolmens at Maraiyur and some shola forest between Maraiyur and Mattupetty. Ive done so much research, its coming out of my ears now. I have visited Kerala countless times from 1979 upto 2004 and even though those were mostly work related visits, I loved going there in all seasons, and always made time for sightseeing and local food [yummy seafood]. It is truly "Gods own country". I am looking forward to this forthcoming vacation most eagerly.

Hope you have sorted out your taxi.

Whatever may be, Im sure all of us will have a lovely time and wish you and your family, and HTID & family too, a wonderful holiday. Do post your experiences as and when you can.

From what I saw on the weather today it seems like Kerala will be rain for the next 3 days, not sure if that's all day though!

We're contemplating what to do in Periyar, there are many options but I think some would be too hard for us (or maybe just here, I think I could manage it).

Daily forecast

HTID
They also do a 2 day forecast.

I use the infra red image to predict the level of daily rains during the monsoons, as the forecast in the newspapers and on TV is usually way out.

The weather in Kerala is a bit erratic at the moment. The summer has generally been quite cool due to there being exceptionally many clouds this summer. Also, there have been more evening showers than expected. However, I don't think you should expect any significant rain for the next ten days. It may rain in the early morning or evening on some days, but the general picture is that it will be dry.

I use AccuWeather for my weather forecasts.

For Kochi: 5 day weather forecast for Kochi

For Kumily (taken from the nearest weather station in Vandiperiyar which is 17km from Kumily): 5 days weather forecast for Kumily
