Help required with the travel itinerary for Kerala Trip

We are three friends travelling to Kerala in mid august. Following is the tour plan we have thought of. Please suggest if this is alright.

11th aug-Reach Trivandrum at around 3pm. Stay in Kovalam Beach. Spend the evening on the beach.

12th aug-Travel to Kanyakumari. Full day tour of Kanyakumari and return back to Kovalam.

13th aug- Spend the morning on the beach.Leave for Kochi after lunch. Enroute visit Varkala Beach. Stay in Kochi.

14th aug- Visit Allepey, take boat rides. Then in the second half cover Fishing nets, Jewish synagogue, Fort Kochi on our way back. Stay in Kochi. [Is this plan for the day feasible?].

15th aug- Visit Athirapalli Falls. Return back to Kochi. Depart for Trivandrum after lunch. Visit Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the evening. Stay in Trivandrum.

16th aug-Leave for Kolkata early in the morning.

Also I would like to know about some budget hotels in Kovalam and Kochi.Thanks in advance.

what is your mode of arrival and departure ?

if that is train , get down at Ernakulam on day 1, ie on 11th aug and do the itinerary you have listed in the reverse order and depart from Trivandrum

otherwise you will be backtracking

I would suggest to stay at least 1 night in Kanyakumari. You could see sunset and sunrise. Also see the Padmanabapuram Palace on the way.

I will be travelling by flights. So getting to Ernakulam first won't be possible.

I also have a question whether the plan on 14th is feasible or not. Quite a few people have suggested that it is impossible to explore Allepey and then cover a few places in Kochi. Any thoughts on this??????......

13th aug- Spend the morning on the beach.Leave for Alleppey. Lunch at Varkala Beach. Stay in Alleppey.


14th aug- morning at Allepey, take boat rides. Then in the second half proceed to Fortcochin, cover Jewish synagogue, Dutch palace, Fishing nets, Fort Kochi beach . Stay in Kochi.

15th aug-Check-out from the hotel and start early by 7 AM to Athirapalli Falls ( so you can reach there in by 9:30 - 10Am) . Depart for Trivandrum . ( you will take not less than 7 hours to cover this distance and take into account the traffic , so visit Padmanabhaswamy Temple, you make it either on 11 Aug, 12 Aug ( on way to kanyakumari) or 13 aug ). Stay in Trivandrum.

16 aug - depart to kolkata ,early morning

I suggest you split "14th Aug" plan. A good houseboat ride will take a full day (10AM - 5PM) with Kerala food & full coverage of the backwaters.
Fort Cochin is another place where you will need more than half a day to cover.

Also there is Poovar Beach some distance from Kovalam which is worth seeing especially a Jesus Christ statue on top of a small hill right on the beach.
