Kerala Honeymoon
Hi Sanand,
The Peak Season has started at the time of your visit. Unless you prefer spending a lot of time travelling, I suggest the Following Itinery, with car & Driver finishing in Kumarakom. Should be no problem arranging transport back to Cochin, unless you arrange same driver to come back to Kumarakom later and return you to Cochin. On your last night in Cochin you could possibly consider staying in Ernakulam and take your new bride shopping.MG Road is great for Shopping & Browsing Around. There are some reasonably priced Hotels in Ernakulam for the Last night of your visit,Abad Metro - Durbar Residency just for Starters,See Hotels section. Cochin (2nghts) - Munnar (2nghts) - Kumarakom (2nghts) Return to Cochin (1nght) There are Decent Homestays in all the above mentioned locations if Hotels are not your thing. I think Fort Cochin would be more Appealing for Honeymoon Couples rather than Ernakulam. Don't forget Cherai Beach (Vypeen Island) is a short ferry ride across the harbour from Ft Cochin and could be a nice half day visit. In the Forums section go to States of India & Click onto Kerala you will see a lot of similar threads for Honeymooners. Have a Wonderfull Honeymoon Rgds - vandy ![]() |

hello everyone..
we have almost finalised the plans for our honeymoon. we request the seno\ior members to kindly provide us with few more details as follows- 1. Good hotels in Munnar, Kumarakom. 2. should we handle the tour on our own by doing the hotel reservations and travel arrangements or Can we trust the tour and package agents to do it for us. 3.what is better, thekkady or allepey? 4.what are the places to see in Cochin/Kochi? ( Is is worth planning for a 2 nights saty or should we cut it to just one night stay.) |

Look at Siena Village at Munnar [Chinnakanal] since you are on your honeymoon - its a nice romantic setting overlooking a lake with mountains behind. Details in the hotels section.
Personally I prefer the Thekkady area, but since its your honeymoon trip you may prefer a romantic houseboat at Allepey to a field trip in the jungles of Thekkady!!! Cochin is certainly interesting, the Fort Cochin area, the harbour area, Vypeen island and the shopping, but its not particularly a honeymoon destination. You can estimate whether you have got a good quote from an agent by comparing hotel tarriffs from their websites plus adding the basic car rental costs. Most smaller agents do not charge anything more as they make up their profits in their travel agent discounts. Air fare, you can check on several sites, nowadays ixigo.com seems to be the best. |

In Munnar - 'Tea County' is a good option. I had stayed there (though a long time ago now..2000) and found the place to be good.

Hi!
you have mentioned initially that you start from kochin but in you final iteneray you have not alloted any time for sightseeing in kochin, there are quiet a few places you shouldn't miss like the synagogue(jew temple),chinese fish nets and Mattancherry Palace. And your stay at the houseboat in kumarakom can be reduced to a single day you'll enjoy it that way better. Here's a small guide line: kochin(2 days) Munnar(3days) Thekkady(1night) Kumarakom(1 night boat house) mathis |
