Fort Kochi Accommodation?
Hi - will be flying into Kochi on the 10th Jan and we are looking for a place to stay in Fort Kochi for 2-4 nights before we move on - could anyone reccommend a decently priced clean and safe place to stay?

Hi, There are a lot of homestays in fort kochi, which are clean and generally catering to the tourists. You will find some of the recommended homestays browsing this forum. A couple of the popular homestays are the Adams Inn and Saj homestay. They have their own websites. You could book most of these homestays over the net.

I like the Fort House.
Its fairly central, quiet, has a great waterfront cafe and restaraunt and is reasonably priced There are two price levels / room qualities Raintree Lodge is a second option. About the same price, more central, but not such good value. Third option is stay at Cherai Beach which is about 45mins away from Fort Cochin Check out the hotel forum

The Chiramel residency is a good place to stay.Very reasonable prices and very clean and homely.
I have recommended them to quite a few travellers now and they have all been happy. Have a great trip,Laney ![]()

Thanks for all the replies - ive come down to a choice of 3 - Fort House, Ballard Bungalow or the Raintree Lodge. Which of these would you knowledgable folk reccommend the most?

Whichever is closest to Princess street.
And don't be adverse to changing hotels or homestays if a better offer comes along. There are just so many places. I stayed at the Hotel Park Avenue. Right in the middle of "Touristville", but still incredible. Really nice people, and really cheap. And PLEASE go to KRISHNA SAGAR for a meal. It's twenty rupees from princess street, and the best food I ate in Kerala. It's all veg., but incredible food.

There's lots of inexpensive guest houses around the main road as has been mentioned.. There's also a couple of perfectly comfortable two star hotels there with all mod cons. The hotels routinely match guest house rates if you show up in person and they are not full (70% or more below the general offering rate).

One of the treasures I found in Fort kochi, is the incredibly efficient post office.
They were just such happy, smiley people. A real pleasure. I know it's off topic. I demand to be thrashed by Mods. |

The Raintree is more central for the tourist area (its a 10 minute walk from Fort House). But the most interesting and fun area to walk around is the old warehouse area and canals which is nearer to the Fort House. |

Well it has a long thin courtyard (approx 100m x 10m) full of plants (Not sure about a mango tree). The courtyard ends at the waterfront with cafe terrace and jetty.
