Festival in late Aug

Hi
I read in my LP that there is some Festival in whole Kerala like late August or early September. Anyone knows exactly when this is this year?

Onam is the festival of Kerala that falls during late August or early September. It heralds the harvest season. This year it falls on the 28th of August.Celebrations begin at least 10 days before. Its a good time to be in Kerala during the Onam festival and to witness the various programmes that include the colorful snake boat races.

1 Sep,2004 .....boat race in aranmula

Venue: Aranmula, about 10 km from Chengannur on Thiruvananthapuram - Kottayam route

The Aranmula vallomkali, which is held on September 1st this year, in the Aranmula River in Pathanamthitta district, is one of Kerala's most popular water fiestas. Conducted annually, the Aranmula Vallomkali is part of the Onam celebrations. This water regatta, unlike the other boat races of Kerala, is not a contest but a retracing of a ritualistic journey undertaken to the Aranmula temple in days gone by.

Thousands of excited people throng the waterside to cheer the majestic crafts that slice through the waters with hundreds of oarsmen roaring in rhythm to the boatman's songs.

Getting there:
Nearest railway station: Chengannur.
Nearest airport: Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, about 130 km towards south.
