Is Kerala and specifically Kochi expensive areas, compared to other major cities in India?

Kerala and Cochin are less expensive in comparison to other places and larger cities like Delhi and Bombay.
The backwater cruise may cost Rs. 2500 per day.
The ayurvedic massages may also cost...but, otherwise food and accomodation is less expensive in comparison to rest of the tourist locations.
But, if you choose a 5 star hotel to live it, the rates could be five star as well.
