euros or dollars?
We live in France (euros). Is it worth getting dollars for Kerala (main tourist centres - Kovalam, Varkala, Cochi, etc.), or are the rates for euros as good as for dollars? Is there a difference in rates between cash and travellers cheques?

The rates at the moment are better for Euros and the Euro is accepted just as readily as the Dollar in the places you plan to visit!!!
Just take Euros no need to change into dollars!! Bon Route ![]() |

Euros the best
euros are the best to take. They usually rise in value abt christmas. Dollars not doing well at all. Take as much cash as you feel happy with and change it as the rate rises.

Take Euros as it avoids conversion costs to dollars etc.
There are no such things as better rates as you have to factor in the conversion costs etc. If there was money to be made, so many people would be doing it that the demand/supply would mean the gains would be lost so no arbitrage opportunity would exisit for long. |

Is this an investment forum or a travel forum? Most people change money as they need to, rather than as an investment. ![]() |

Hello Rickshawwallah,
No, of course it's a travel forum. There are countries where currencies other than the dollar can be difficult to change, and when they can be changed they get a depressed rate compared with their true value on the international currency market, so it can be worth changing your home currency for dollars first before going to such a country. Happily, India is not such a country, as has now been confirmed on this very useful travel forum Cheers, Ar Seizh Sant ![]() |

Don't get sucked in by what looks a good rate. A worse rate with lower commission might work out better
