Do you know a good hotel around Calicut ? How is 'Renaissance Kappad Beach Resort' ?

Hi IMrs ,

I am looking for a decent place (travelling with family)to stay at Calicut / Kozhikode. An agent has suggested Kappad Beach Resort. Does anyone got any experience on this property ? Is it a good place to spend New Year ?

Any suggestions for an alternate acco ? Pls help !!

Kappad beach resort is of calicut city,its situated on kapad beach(other than the fact that Vasco da gama landed here in 1498) there is nothing much there.I dont know about what they have on offer for new years.There are 2 joints you should check out. Kadavu resort (0483 2830570) Kadavu resorts is really far out just for the sheer mind blowing location. If you want hilly , slightly cold far out experience, then approx 1.5 hrs drive from Calicut is Vythiri resorts(0495 2761236/2761237)you may need to book early here. Don't take your chances with your family in other places on a newyear party in calicut is my suggestion as the crowd behaviour sucks.

Great help and that too from a person who is from the same place I was worried as I did not hear much abt this palce and on top of it I was going out with family.

Yes, I am ascertaining acco situation from the Kadavu and also looking for the Tree houses as an alternate. By the way, I am also very keen on spending 24 hrs on a deluxe house boat. Can you suggest what is the best option - routewise.

If I leave this Kappad option, then I will travel by train to reach a suitable station in kerala and cover Periyar and house boat + a decent place to enjoy New Year.

Would love to get your views.

Kadavu resort has a houseboat,its pretty good and deluxe too i think. . Check out Kadavu & Vythiri, from the 2 my pick would be Vythiri (the location is teriffic & lots to do fr the family).

If you are looking for the real backwater unforgettable stay, then i suggest you go to Kumarakom. You should be able to locate some good deals via net .

If you are particular about kappad beach, i would suggest Liberty house, a govt approved homestay. Great hosts and delicious food. They were able to arrange houseboat and other services at discounted rates for me.
