Cochin airport - "prepaid taxi?"
Cochin airport - "prepaid taxi?"
Hello!
How much costs a prepaid taxi of the airport Cochin to Fort Cochin?
The Hostel offered me to pick me up from the airport for 750 rupees.
Seem absolutely overexpensive to me.
I am grateful for all tips.

Kochi: Airport to Fort Taxi
What is the pre-paid taxi fare from Cochin airport to downtown Ernakulam and Fort Kochi?
Are buses and auto-rickshaws also available?
Thank you.

Update
With a bit of research on the net, I wound the website for Kochi airport at http://www.cochin-airport.com/html/0c00fram.htm
It has a very convenient calculator for the taxi fare from the airport to various destinations.
This will be of help to others as well.
And the answer to my query: Rs 635.
Plus Rs 30 for the toll at some bridge on the way.

Is there any other option except taxi? Cheaper one of course? I will arrive about 18:00

I cannot be certain (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) but I do not think there is a bus service to and from the airport - probably tot enough call for it and if you have a lot of luggage a taxi or auro might be easier. It is a fair distance from the airport to Ernakulam -about 36km so don't be surpised if it is only a little cheaper to take an auto as the driver will charge you as a return journey.
Avoid autos as the distance is very far ..and its safer to take a taxi especially if it gets late ..buses, am not sure ..It might also be raining there now ! taxis are about Rs 650 . It will take about an hour at least

I agree with Backpakker. If you have been on a long flight as I did last week the last thing you want is another hour bouncing along in an auto. Take a taxi and as an extra maybe get A/C as it is about 34 degree C here and humid.
Autos and Buses
On another thread here, I just read that the auto fare is just 250 as against 650 by cab.
And surely there are buses too.
Can anybody provide authentic info please.
Both my flights arrive and leave in the mid afternoon so I don't feel compelled to take a taxi for the "security".
The heat I'm used to.
And its more to do with having a number of options to choose from.
I find the Kerala forum on this website often short on specifics.
The other destinations are covered very comrehensively indeed.

I would suggest that most of the people giving help on this forum are travellers or have been travellers and know something about various aspects concerning India. We are not professionals (or at least I am not) and I do not have the information about buses other than to say I have never seen one at the airport. Of course you could walk along airport road until yu meet the N47 and catch a bus there but it is quite a walk.
I am sorry that you feel the information I and other have given you in our spare time is not sufficiently specific but Kerala is a big place, as you know, and I for one am not a walking encyclopedia or bus timetable.

Amazing post. You don't have a God given right to receive information about anything at all. If you activate your brain it should become clear that Kerala is not a popular tourist destination compared to other Indian destinations. Consequently, fewer people will be available to provide the required information. Why not do the obvious? You arrive at Cochin Airport. Leave the airport. Ask someone around the airport (there are always hundreds of people around) if they now about any buses. If unsuccessful, try to locate a rickshaw. If unsuccessful, go back into the airport and book a prepaid taxi. It is called travelling independently. How hard is that?
In addition, your initial question had already been answered in another thread as you now realise, i.e. you started a thread for no reason, and wasted the time of people who are trying to be helpful. Maybe you should learn about the etiquette on using forums.
