Hi guys,
We, a group of 4 friends are planning to go and have a great time in Munnar. But our budget is low.We need to stay for a couple of days and if anyone knows a nice cheap motel (safe car parking is a necessity) ,please reply.Preferably less than 500Rs. I don't mind staying in Marayoor or in such places which is not exactly 'Munnar town'

Moderator Request (and welcome!)

Hello dennisrobert, welcome to IndiaMike

We know it is tough sometimes to know which forum to
post a request in, but, having posted in one, please do
not post in another!

Thanks

Kalbarri had earlier posted details about the Marayoor hotel which may meet your budget. She stayed there long term and was very satisfied. You could try contact her through PM.

I just remembered the name: Marayoor Tourist Home [may also be spelled Maraiyur]

Marayoor Tourist Home is not in Munnar, it is in a Town named Marayoor, which is about 1 hr North of Munnar by car.

There is another one in Munnar called Kaippallil Guest House.
Good location overlooking Munnar Township.

My planned travel dates are July 8 to July 11.Can I take a chance and look for ooms after reaching there.I will be travelling with my wife and reach Munnar at 2.30 pm to 3pm and can spend around 2 hours for searching rooms.I will be travlling via Coimbatore and taking erst there before moving further to Munnar. So wont be very exhausted and can spend some time to get a fair deal.Since July is a rainy sason in Munnar, can I get a cheaper deal. Can I get a room that is usually 1000 bucks for atleast 650 to 700 (30% discount).Your sugegstions are valuable.

there are few dorms just few kms before the market of munnar. the nearest landmark is a temple. You can get the bed in dorms which are in very good condition and very cheap with tv and blankets provided. The dorm in which we stayed was named something lake view lodge. check with local people there, they are very friendly and helpful.

@srinivasan ji we were 12-13 guys and we paid about 120 rs per bed. we went during the diwali last year and all the accomodations were full and btw dorms were good option for us and it was very good. If you are going with family then it will be good to book a hotel.

Can I spot book hotel in July 8 - 11 as it is off season.I ned to know this.If yes, I can leave the booking for now.July is a peak rainy season and not a season at all in Munnar - thats what people say.But does this affect tourist inflow and hotels remain empty. Can someone please confirm this?

I stayed at JJ guest house back in 2009 - Amazing. Lovely rooms, hot water, sky TV and a fridge and it cost 400rps for a double room. This is what I found out online;

JJ Cottage, (Close to the KSRTC bus stand in old Munnar), ☎ +91 48 6523 0104 (jjcottagemunnar@sancharnet.in ). Nice rooms, very friendly and helpful staff with surprisingly good cheap food. Double rooms may be negotiated down to Rs 300 during the low season. Feels more like a bed and breakfast than your average guest-house.

Hope that helps!

Yes you should be able to Spot book when you arrive.

Have also heard of good reviews for JJ Cottage.

See IF you can contact Isaccs Residency and request a Price for July, Quite a Nice place, Also there is Munnar Inn on the main
Street in town,Not as good as Isaccs though.
