best way to travel

hi
i want to travel
chennai-backwaters for half day
trivandrm palaces
padmanabha temple
kanyakumari
madurai

which is hte best way to plan it. i want to take the train as much as possible

Junkone, I could not understand the 'chennai - backwaters' part of it.

However, a suggested itinerary is:

- Leave for Madurai overnight from chennai (supposing you start at chennai) and spend the next 1/2 day(s) at Madurai visiting the temples
- Proceed to Kanyakumari from Madurai (240 kms/ 4-5 hours by road) and spend a day there
- Leave for trivandrum by road (2 hours) and visit Padmanabhda temple and other temples/palaces as a day tour from Trivandrum
- From Trivandrum, you can proceed to Allepey (4 hours)for a backwater cruise
