Best Keralan restaurant/dish

Any restaurants/dishes in you'd like to recommend?
All types of eateries considered (from road side shack to 5 star resort), but the food must be great.

I'm going to be in Kerala for 6 days and spending quite a bit of time in Trivandrum, so fellow foodies please contribute!

Also, has anyone come across any outstanding restaurants in terms of ambience, setting, decor etc.

Cheers!

Kerala is a fish land. Try seafoods.

Also Kerala is one of the very few places in India where people eat beef.

You can try the kerala Thali (noon meals). Chai is measured by meter

This is mostly a rice eating region.

I had a very nice lunch at Swiss Cafe in Trivandrum. I was taken there by a friend, I'd have no idea where to find it again.

Since hotels are included, I have to give yet another mention to my favourite of favourite hotels; Coconut Lagoon. The buffet food there is always a treat.

Swiss Cafe is right behind HSBC office in a place called Vellayambalam -that is the airline office area where you have all the airline offices.

Another good place to try out is Oasis beyond pattom (forgot the place name.)

Hotel Muscat has a good authentic restaurant near Palayam, and the same is good at Muthoot Plaza near Secretrait.

Kalavara near Pulimood junction is the perennial fav with locals.

In Kochi, you can try Pandal as good kerala fare where you can get great Kerala Thaali .

All the above are quite expensive fares but I would really recommend any hotel in the busy streets in the towns in Kerala. The general health consiousness is high compared to many other places in India and if they are not healthy they would have been shut down by locals already!

India Coffee house is another great place anywhere in Kerala to have a nice breakfast/lunch/snacks and dinner.

OASIS is In Kesavadasapuram, one kilometer from Pattom when u come from city side. It is inside the famous shopping mall called KEDARAM.
Well if u like typical, tapioca fish curry etc u can go to THANI NADAN , which is near to Vazhuthakadu junction. Exactly oposite to Cotton Hill school.
For the only veg restaurant a new joint has come up in the MG road ,( just opposite to secretariat ) which is called SWAGAT.
For a typical Kerala Sadya go to INDRAPURI.
Indian coffee house near to Thampanoor Junction is good for dosas and cutlets.
Then there are upteen number of 'THATTU KADAS' for dosa and appam etc...
I think this much is enough. To find ur way to all this place u can call me or PM me.
Bye
