Alleppey to Trivandrum Tour

Hi Indiamikers,

I have just relocated from north India to Trivandrum on a short term project and have to recieve my relatives at Allepy Station. Since my husband & I will be going to Allepy on 1st oct. evening, and 2nd oct. being a holiday I had this idea of showing them Allepy backwaters on 2nd. This is the plan:

Plan:
Day 1: 1st Oct.:
Reach allepy, book a hotel & recieve my relatives from station.

Day 2: 2nd Oct.:
Travel from Allepy to kollam by Tourist Day Cruise.
From Kollam to TVM by train.

Queries:
1. Can I just go to Allepy and book Hotels and cruise on the spot?(I'll try for Palmy or Malayalam)

2.Is my 2nd day plan feasible? What time will the Cruise start and can I get train tickets from Kollam to TVM on spot or shall i book it in advance??(so as to reach TVM home by 10 pm)

Please suggest.

You already know the hotels you are looking for. It is much better to book either of them ahead as this would be a long weekend, avialaility may be an extra issue.

Do you(or anyone else) have contact nos. of these 2 hotels.
Also please suggest me for my day2 plan as i dont want to be embarrassed in front of my relatives by not getting a descent reservation in train while returning from Kollam.

For more details of the hotels you just go through this site its the official website of kerala tourism where you will get all the information about the hotels www.keralatourism.org ..and better you take train tickets in advance..

The link is really helpful.
I checked with couple of hotels. Called up Palmy as well. They are asking for Rs.800 per cottage.She will also arrange motor boat for backwater tour as she said day cruise for kollam might not be running now due to off season and that it goes only if they have atleast 10-15 people.She can also arrange transportation from railway station to Palmy for all of us for Rs. 100.
Now I think it is better to book train tickets from Allepy to TVM.
Any suggestions anybody??
