Agatti Island Beach Resort

Has anyone stayed at this Agatti Island Beach Resort ?

Any negatives taking boat from Kochi to Agatti? Good idea or better by plane?

Little over two weeks before we're off! Time has NEVER moved so slowly ...

Thanks.

Have been to Agatti but only to transfer to Bangaram and Kadmat. The boats are fine and cheap but obviously take longer. If you haven't booked a flight I would check them out soon as they can get full. Also if you can vary your timetable it is cheaper to fly Indian Airlines rather than Kingfisher but. The airlines fly on different days.

Thanks for the reply, CliveG ...

So do you have any thoughts on Agatti? I know it is where the airport is -- does this mean it is crowded and noisy or is it still the quiet retreat that we are looking for?

Agatti Beach Resort

Stayed there in December 2006 and had a great time. Took the plane over as much quicker - 45 minute flight. Certainly we found the island and resort relaxing, quiet and peaceful with beautiful location and surroundings.

Enjoy!

Thanks, but WHAT is with the prices for air travel in India? The flight from Kochi to Agatti is almost $800 USD round trip for two! That is CRAZY for a 45 minute trip! I am looking on Expedia.com and also Kingfisher's website. Can I find a cheaper flight somewhere else?

Last time I went Kingfisher were much more expensive than Indian Airlines (mind you Kingfisher did give away free biros!!!!). Yes the cost is crazy. You can fly half way around the world for the same cost. When Kingfisher announced the commencement of flights to Agatti they were going to undercut Indian airlines. That idea lasted about 2 months. These are the only two airlines that operate flights to Agatti.
Next time I go I will take the ferry which leaves from Kochi and is only about $80 return.

Its a great place - the Agatti Island beach resort. On fact its the only resort on the island. The island is small and can be walked across from one end to the other in about an hours time.

I stayed there - way back in 2000! - but had a terrific time. Excellent beach - beautiful white sands and crystal blue waters. The resort itself is just 5 minutes walk away from the airstrip and is located on the beachfront.

The staff were very friendly - excellent service and great sea food. They also organised snorkelling and boat trips to other neighbouring islands for no additional costs (was included in the price).

A must visit place!!

for deep sea fishing from Bangaram? I'm bringing tackle, want
to avoid the weight of my "BIG GAME" rod/reels!!

The peolpe who organise the water sports on Bangaram advertise deep see fishing so I would assume that they provide all the equipment as you would not be expected to take it with you. The cost this year was Rs2000 for a 3 hour trip.
