Advice re: Keraleeyam Resort in Alleppey

Has anyone stayed at the Keraleeyam Resort in Alleppey and is it reputable? There are no listings for it in IM but the reviews I've seen on tripadvisor are good. Just wondering about them because they've asked me to prepay the total amount for my room upfront and I'm not really wanting to do it. What do you think?

It is perfectly reputable, and I would trust them with the up-front payment.

The resort is owned by a group that also manufactures ayurvedic medicines, and they take the ayurvedic thing seriously. At every keal you will be asked to order your next meal, as it will be cooked for you. They told me that nothing is served to guests that has not been cooked at the time! Damn good principle, but I do find it hard to think about my next meal when I've just eaten.

I stayed there in 2004 as a base for seeing the Nehru Boat Race, and it was perfect for that. A bit of a quirky place, my favourite UK Kerala-specialist travel agency doesn't use them, but I would go there again.

Hope my info is not out of date!

I also stayed there in the winter 2004/2005. They have different rooms / cottages, so you better make sure you know what you'll get. We had booked and prepaid through an agent (bad idea) and had to fight quite a battle to get a decent room. Maybe prepay for the first night only?
As Nick said, the food is really good.
