Advice needed on route between kochi and Goa

Hello,

Loving this site!
i'm off to Trivandrum next Sunday 18th October and flying back to the UK from Mumbai on Saturday morning 31st Oct...

Going to go Varkala / Backwaters / Kochi till thurs 22nd I think... should give us eough time. This is where we get stuck...
Ideally we'd like to go from Kochi to Wayanad (sounds less touristy than Periyar), then on to Hampi and Goa.. spend a couple of days on a beach in southern Goa then fly back to Mumbai on the Friday 30th...

Any suggestions on a suitable route from Kochi/Ernakulam to Goa via wayanad and Hampi? Is this too ambitious? We don't want to feel like we've spent our entire trip on a bus/train!

any feedback would be much appreciated!

can't wait!!!

Cochin to wayanad can be done either on taxi or by train+bus..
it will take maximum 6 hours..
From cochin get a train to calictu and from there get a bus to wayanad..
From wayanad you can reach mysore and get a train for hampi and travel from hampi to goa again by train..
Else you can directly catch train from cochin to goa which takes around 16 hours time..

You need not prebook for cochin to calictu, you can get day trains..
