5 weeks in Kerala in Feb and meet ups?)

Hey guys-this is my first post on IM and will going on my first trip to India from 19 Jan to early March, spending first week or so in Southern Goa with a friend then aiming to spend the rest of the time in Kerala.

I’m usually very organised but have decided to not to stick to a rigid timetable but aiming to cover Cochin, The Backwaters, Trivandrum, Ernakulum (to pop into the festival from 30th Jan-6th Feb), perhaps Varkala or Kovalam and maybe some kind of relaxation/meditation stop.

Are there any other places that I really mustn’t miss?
I’m travelling alone after Goa so anyone in the area fancy meeting up?

Cheers

Welcome!

Hi Quizzical, and welcome to IM! I am sure that you are going to have a great experience, both here and especially in India!

My guess is that no one has jumped at your suggestion of a meet-up, not because they are unfriendly, but because we know nothing about you. Your profile gives nothing away apart from the fact that you live in London!

Thanks clivington, good point

I'm a 32 year old female artist and performer, based in London.
Looking to meet up with chilled, laid back people.

i suffer with chronic pain so charging around or hiking up the mountains isn't going to be doable but would like to see a mix of things and not just sitting around on beaches.

im a conceptual artist, video, installation and performance (which i love but means it doesn't pay enough to travel in luxury, so aiming for no more than £10 a day...will this be enough?)

£10 a day? Well, you're going to touristy areas so you'll be pushing it! If you travel by bus, eat at places for locals, and negotiate hard on accommodation, you might be able to do it. I spend half that - but I'm renting a place and am not travelling. I don't smoke or drink and am more than happy sitting in a canteen, having a Keralan Fish Meal for Rs25! I guess I don't have a social life either - that helps!

If you come south you might like to have a chat over a chai and meet the children and young people at a school/social project near Kovalam. You might even want to show them your art! Email me if you're interested - I'll put my email address in my profile (there, so that I can delete it later).

that sounds great clivington but dont think showing kids my art work would be appropriate (adult themes) but would love to come and see the school and perhaps do some work with them.

right...off to catch my plane!
