What's a Good Places to Stay in Karwar and Goa?

We plan to drive from Murudeshwar to Goa in early January 2010. Can someone suggest a good hotel (3 or 4 star) to stay on the way (maybe Gokarna or Karwar?) and a 4 Star hotel near a clean beach in Goa?

In Gokarna there are few good resort/hotel .But during Dec-Jan time is fully crowed with hippies ;-)

If you want to stay in island , near karwar, there is very beautifully island called Devbagh

Shellyzinta, i would really recommend the Devbagh resort by jungle lodges. I had been there a couple of years ago. Being an island, the crowd is minimal, and you could almost say that its beach is private - there will be no one except those visiting the resort. And ofcourse, the only way you can do that is by boat. Definitely work a weekend stay.
