taxi from Kozhikode to Mysore

Hi, We are travelling in India throughout August. We would like to go from Kozhikode to Likkidi, Vythri for two nights and raincountry resort, then we want to travel by car to Mysore. Is is feasible to travel this way during the monsoons, what is the scenery like, how long will it take and is it worth it when we get there? Anything that will give us ideas on the areas will be great and useful.jackie

hi jackiegear
You will be travelling on the national highway from kozhikode to mysore and the road is quite good and vythri is around 60-65 kms from kozhikode. As far as the scenery is concerned you will be starting from the coastal area and crossing the western ghats to reach vythri and from vythri to sultan battery you will be travelling thru tea, coffee and rubber estates. From sultan battery you have to travel thru the wayanad wildlife santuary upto gundlepet and from their it flat agriculture land upto mysore. The total distance is around 150-160 kms from kozhikode to mysore and it might take around 6-7 hours of jouney.
July and august the monsoon is active and it MIGHT be raining the whole day.

kozihode to Mysore

Hi, Thank you for your advice. It sounds like we wont get flooded out on the high way at least. This is what I was worrying about. It sounds a nice area to drive through. Do you know what Mysore is like and is it worth this journey to stay just two nights or should I consider altering my itinerary. Thanks jACKIE

Calicut to Mysore

We're planning to take a taxi from Kozhikode to Mysore staying overnight in Wayanad/Vythiri. We hope to catch the Shatabdi Express onward to Bangalore at 2:30. I 'm hoping we can leave Wayanad at 10:00 after a somewhat leisurely morning and still catch our train. Is that reasonable?

I would plan for about 4 hours for Vythiri-Mysore. So yes, it looks reasonable. But you should add an extra half hour if it is raining.
