Ranganathitu Bird Sanctuaty
Ranganathitu Bird Sanctuaty
Ranganathitu is a lovely bird sanctuary in Srirangpatna. It is just off the Bangalore Mysore highway and a great weekend getaway.
The bird sanctuary is actually an island on the River Cauvery.
In season, there is cacophony of thousands of birds taking off at dawn and returning to their nests at dusk.
Offseason, is more quiet and you can see mother birds nesting. You can easily spot painted storks, spoon bills, white ibises, egrets, herons and partridges anytime of the year.
