Hi All,
I'm planning to drive down to my hometown, Mysore, from Pune on Oct 16. I will be there for about a week (or maybe more). I'll be driving alone, with a colleague of mine who will accompany me till Hubli. My plan is short and is as follows: - Leave Pune at around 4PM on Oct 16. - Reach Belgaum by 9-9:30 PM (Oct 16). - Stay back at my colleague's place in Belgaum for the night. - Leave for Mysore around 4:30-5AM on Oct 17. - Reach Hubli, drop off my colleague and continue driving to Mysore. Now, following is the advice that I require: - Firstly, the only reason why I'm driving down is because my parents have not seen my new car. Its hardly 2 months old now. I want to give them a surprise, but more importantly, want to show them my new car. - I am aware of two routes: Pune - Bangalore - Mysore (via the Mumbai-B'lore Expressway, I reach B'lore from Pune. Then continue with the expressway from B'lore to Mysore) - From Hubli, I take the route Hubli - Haveri - Shimoga - Hassan - Mysore. I would like to know which is the better route. I intend on saving time, so the shorter route would be better. At the same time, roads which are shorter, should not be too bad! Please advice! Hoping for quick replies from all! Thank you. |

Since you are travelling alone & a new car, irrespective of the distance, I suggest you stick to the normal Bangalore - Poona highway from Hubli (Hubli-Ranibennur-Davengere-Chitradugra-Hiriyur-Tumkur-Nelamangala-NICE ROAD!!) to Bangalore. Take the NICE road frm Tumkur Road and reach Mysore road & it would be the fastest.
The difference in the routes would be around 40-50kms (I assume). Avoid going into the City. Watch out for the NICE Road Entry after you cross Nelamangala (roughly 8-9 kms frm Nelamangala junction - i am nt sure).

Null,
Thanks for the information. I heard from a couple of friends who frequently travel to B'lore via the Mumbai-B'lore expressway that it takes roughly 8 hours from Belgaum to B'lore. Any idea if this is true? If not, can you help me with the approx road condition of the Simoga-Hassan-Mysore route? Thanks in advance.. |

For live road status, suggest you to go to Team-BHP & look up You have a section for route queries where folks update the latest road conditions if you post your query.Hope this helps. |
