Please help...train from Mangalore to Gokarna

Can anyone help me, I'm trying to find out how to get from Mangalore to Gokarna by train and I can't seem to find the route or train number. From Gokarna we want to travel up through Goa and then get to Mumbai. We have 13 days to do this.

Also is Holi on the 3rd March in 2007. Will the trains run on this day (or day before/after)? Thanks.

Is your time limited?

You wouldn't regret having 1 day in Murdeshwar, it was the highlight of my trip in November, there are plenty of hotels and absolutely amazing statues and wonderfully friendly people.

However, the place will give you a feeling for the price of things in India, you will regret ever finding out these prices when you get to Goa and start being charged ridiculous prices at any and every opportunity.
