non-low-end hotel for Hampi?

It looks like (a) the KSTDC hotel in Kamalapura is the only real choice for non-backpacker accomodation in the Hampi ruins area.

The other mid-range choices are (b) across the river, where one must cross back before dark; and (c) the Malligi hotel back in Hospet Junction.

Choice (b) won't work for us. Of choices (a) and (c), which is a better option? Are there any food options in Kamalapura at night, other than the KSTDC hotel? Will we be stuck hiking 5km to Hampi Bazaar every time we want to rent a bike or use the net or buy toothpaste?

I did C and it was very good. The restaurant was just average but the hotel did have an excellent travel service..

I will say its more than 5 clicks to Hampi though..

I understand that it is about 5 km from (a) to Hampi Bazaar, although the museum is right next to the KSTDC hotel in Kamalapura, and some of the Hampi ruins are across the street.

It about 15Km from (c) to Hampi.

A couple of years ago, we stayed at KSTDC's Hotel Mayuri at Hospet just opposite the Tungabhadra Dam. The food was excellent and it was just a 10min drive from Hampi.
