Hi
I shall be visiting Ooty/Coonoor/wellington in mid-august. In Coonoor i have read that Tea estate tours are organised. Can i have some suggestions on any good tea estate where i can visit for the tour and what are the charges?

Hi...

The Tea Estate visit is now been formally commercialised. So, a tea factory visit is very simple and you have a lot of options around for as low as Rs.50 per person. But if you are really interested in tea, then there are a lot of estate properties which also have accommodation options. Check for them for a real experience.

Regards

Prasanna

There are a lot who would enjoy your company. Look for estates around Coonoor. If you looking for some particular suggestions, let me know. I can check and revert back for some non commercial activity.

yes please, suggest some non-commercial tea estate for tour. And any suggestions on what is there to see in Wellington besides it being an Army Cantonment. I would be hiring a cab and would covering areas outside Ooty- so, plan to see tea estate in Coonoor, go to Dolphin Nose and see catherine falls..in fact, would be going till Katagiri and seeing the fall from close distance. On the way back, i plan to checkout Wellington...maybe just get a feel of the place. In other place which you can think off?

I am trying to check Emerald Tea Estate near Avalanche, which also has a good waterfalls inside. I have stayed there once in their guest house which is okay. If you do not mind Avalanche side, as this involves a little travel, let me know, I can give the contact details. Wellington is a part of Coonoor, other than the DSSC, I don't think you have much to see there. In Coonoor, you can see Sims Park, Lambs Rock, Dolphin's Nose etc. On the way to Kotagiri, you may check out the Reliah Dam. In Kotagiri, try the Kodanad View Point and on return, visit Dodabetta. All places in Coonoor and Kotagiri are about views of the valley and Katherine Falls would also be the same.
