Need advice on Coastal Karnataka trip

i am also planning a similar trip.

i need some assistance if some one can direct me to reliable car drivers for 4 days who know routes well and are good drivers

what is the per km charge for non A/C indica and A/C indica from mangalore to mangalore for 4 days?

Velu - This is what I finally did . Thanks for your detailed information in that region .

Day 1 - Mangalore(10.30) - Uduppi(12.30) - Murudeshwar( 4.30) (stay overnight)
Day 2 - Kollur - Sringeri - Dharmasthala(3 hrs from Sringeri)
Day 3 - Subhramanya(1.5 hrs from Dharmasthala) -

Since I didn't have time to reach back to mangalore station I routed to Kasaragod railway station and got the train

Only problem was not getting room at Dharmasthala . Had to come to 10 kms away and take lodge .

hi

we finally made this trip last month

this is how we went about

day 1: mangalore mail from chennai to mangalore
day 2: reached mangalore in the afternoon , checked in to a hotel and in the evening visited the Panambur beach

day 3: started early for Kukke Subramnya first, lunch , then reached Dharamasthala in the evening, night stay in Dharmasthala

day 4: started for Sringeri and spent full day there, could not cover Horanadu, thats a big regret

day 5: Left for Udupi , had darshan. in the afternoon left for Kollur and then in the evening Maravanthe, night stay in Udupi

day 6: Early morning darshan of Lord Krishna and visited Pajaka Shetra, birth place of Madhacharya and then onto Kateel Durgaparameshawari and then all temples inside Managalore
in the evening went to famous Bekal fort ( 70 kms one way from Mangalore) and back to Mangalore for the night

Could you please let me know about cheaper accomodation in mangalore city ? I just need car parking, clean toilets and bed. I would be out in the daytime and would need accomodation only for night and getting fresh in the morning. I would prefer something around 300 rupees a night.

You may try "Hotel Regaul Palace" . It's simple, Clean, neat and budget. Double bed room is around 250 Rs.

Hot water will be provided in Bucket for bath and for tv 50 Rs Extra !

It's walkabale from State bank bus stand / Private bus stand!

It has parking space [Open]

Hint:- From State bank bus stand, take the Road to "Jetty / Market" and in 50 metres you will see this lodge in left !

Good Room Service !

Is it "Regal palace" ? If so, it is right in the heart of the city. If you could also suggest some places on the highway(i.e NH17) around mangalore ? Not so crowded places.

As Far as I remember it's Regaul Palace only and yes it's in heart of City. Till now, I did not stayed anywhere in NH17 near mangalore till now. I am Sorry Kudla !
