Melkote or Hosaholalu - what to choose?

Me and my friends are going to visit Sravanabelgola this November, and than continue to Mysore.
As we planning to start at 11 AM and can afford a taxi to Mysore, we would like to visit some places of interest in our way. Some researches gives me an idea about have a look at Lakshminarayana Temple at Hosaholalu (which, as I understand, is not a big de-tour from Sravanabelgola-Mysore road), or to visit Melkote (is's a bit more de-tour). As there is not too much info about both places in internet, could someone who been in those places gives me their opinion - should we choose Melkote or Lakshminarayana Temple at Hosaholalu (keeping in mind that the day before we'll have seen Halebid/Belure)? Or is it possible and worth it to visit both places on our way to Mysore?

Thanks in advance for all your opinions!!!
