![]() Sphynx , the iconic nightclub in Manipal, has been extensively renovated in the last couple of years. I guess Saturday night is still the best time to go there. I stayed at Hotel Krishna Leela the last couple of times while in Manipal (about 2 years now) and I found the place to be pretty clean and conveniently located. They have a Coffeday and Pizza Corner or Dominoes outlet downstairs. |

Other than Valley View , the only star rated hotel in Manipal, the other hotels and lodges have tariff ranging from about Rs. 200 - Rs 1200. Wow! That’s really helpful. Thank you so much. I think I would just go there and then decide where to stay (after looking at the place) I don’t think it’s difficult to get a place there…

That would be the best way to go about deciding on a place to stay. Except during the admissions or convocation time, room availability wouldn't be an issue. A lot of hotels/lodges are located opposite the engineering college ( M.I.T). You can walk down that stretch of road and check them out.

Kaup Light House
Nice spot to go for fun would be Kaup Light House during evening.
It has a wonderful historic on huge rocks in the beach. Lot of students from Manipal come there for an evening drink. Its my native village but always find it magical. |

Hey if your in Manipal and the Udupi area and your interested in trekking there's loads of place to see and go to!
My favorite place is a little town called Hebri which is about an hour from Manipal by bus. From here take a rick or taxi and ask them to take you to Kuddle Theerta, this a beautiful waterfall and though its a pretty hard trek getting to it, its worth it! (At this time when the monsoon has just started there will be a lot of water and a lot of leeches!) There's also a nature camp in Hebri but its not really that great.. nothing exciting but its very peaceful and there's lodging available too. If you wanna go further out you should go to Agumbe, which is basically a town on top of a mountain and leads to the Shimoga district, its not too far from Manipal about 2 hours by bus. The ride up to Agumbe is really sweet because it climbs up a huge mountain with steep roads and has 13 hairpin bends. Oh the view is beautiful from here and all I ever do is stare out of the bus the whole ride. There are a lot of other things to do in Agumbe, but I haven't had the time or people to manage to visit those places yet. When I do I will post up again. Maybe I'll do something like that when I get back to Udupi on the 7th of next month! Peace and enjoy your stay in Manipal
