mangalore railway station

Hello!
What is the distance between Mangalore Central railway station and the Airport (Bajpe Airport). How long would it take by road at say 09:00 a.m.?
Are there any good restaurants/hotels near Mangalore Central railway station?
Thanks in advance.

I would say it's between 45 mins - 1hr as lots of roads in Mangalore are under going construction. Good breakfast option - Taj Mahal hotel about 1.5 km from the railways station.

Agree, the junction of NH 17 and NH 48 is a nightmare, twice I got stuck there, and that was about 10/11 in the morning, it was awful, though I don't know if this is on the route to Mangalore airport, but I think it is.

I don't know if there's a pre-pay kiost at the airport, if there is, then it should cost less than Rs300 in a rickshwaw, and maybe about Rs5-600 in a taxi.

If no pre-pay kiosk, you can double those prices, I took a rickshaw from Kankanadi to Mangalore Central last month, and the rickshaw men seemed like a mafia, Rs200 for a 4-5km trip, and they wouldn't go down a single rupee, and everyone stuck to the same price.

What train station?

Mangalore Central or Mangalore Junction (used to be called Kankanadi)?

What train?

Out of interest, what route you taking to Mangalore?

My local airport is Gatwick, and I had a quick look yesterday for flight combinations to Mangalore, and wasn't too pleased with what I found.

There is a pre-paid taxi counter just left of the airport exit door. Fares for various destinations are displayed on a board. While I have no idea as to how much is the pre-paid taxi fare to Mangalore Junction/Mangalore Central station, I paid Rs.400/- for a distance of about 7 kms from the airport in last May. So steven-ber may be right in his assessment of the taxi fare of Rs.500-600/- for Mangalore train stations.

Thank you so much. Am going to Mang Central in order to catch the Matsyaganda Exp to Gokarna. Am flying BA out of Heathrow to Beng and then transfer on Kingfisher to Mangalore. I just take Nat express coaches to Heathrow from Brighton-no changing ang lugging bags across London!

Isnt it simpler to go from Beng to gokarna direct instead of going to mangalore & then gokarna? OR alternatively, fly into Goa / mumbai and go down to Gokarna?
