Ok ive found a train no 6355 that leaves margoa at 0835 and gets to karwar at 10.05 Now im on my way to Gokarna and just wondered
if karwar was worth a nights stay or 2 before going onwards
if so then anyone know of a few nice budget type hotels?b&bs to stay We dont want to be on an island as we love to walk around the towns and villages aswell
also are the buses to gokarna regular leaving from karwar
any other info would be most welcome

Don't get that train, it starts it's journey somewhere in Gujarat, so could easily be late.

Also, Karwar station is something like 7 or 8 kms from the bus stand.

Train KR1 departs Madgaon daily at 15.10 and gets to Gokarna Road station at 17.02 (times come forward by an hour or so for departures on or after 1st November).

KR1 is a 'passenger' train (stops everywhere) and has bookable 2nd class seats, though the train isn't too busy, you could easily just turn up at the station, buy a 2nd class single and jump on the train, it's a nice journey.

Try to include Murudeshwar (80kms south of Gokarna) in your itinerary, it's a real nice place, very Indian with few (if any) foreign tourists.

Hi stephen thanks for your promt reply the reason we chose the train 6335 is its a morning train rather that an afternoon train
any other times you know of either am before 10 or after 6pm ?

Now Murudeshwar is just what we are looking for the web pages ive been checking out since you wrote have left me really wanting to go there it looks so special we will start from there then take a steady trek backwards we have 9 days to spare so along the same route if you know of any other places id love to know
