June and July in Karnataka - am I a fruit-loop for suggesting such a thing??

I'm interested in going to Karnataka in June/July because it's the only time I can make it to India this year.

I've been advised that the monsoon in Karnataka is a bit savage around then, is that true or an exaggeration? I've lived in Southeast Asia for 4 years, so I don't mind at all if it's hot, but I'd rather not have to put up with rain and severe humidity every day.

Any experiences? If you think it's a bad idea and you have an alternative idea, please let me know.

Around that period I stayed in Bangalore, Southern Andhra Pradesh and in Tamil Nadu and it was quite acceptable.

If you are interested in Karnataka, the places you shuld see are
Somanathpur, Belur, Halibid, Hampi, Badami, & Aihole.
November / December is the best time to visit.
Even in December you have to learn to live with the suffocating dust in the city.
