Jog Falls (tomorrow!) with children?

We are staying at a hotel on the coast near Kundapur, apparently 3 hours drive from Jog Falls. We were planning to go there tomorrow for a day trip, but I'm now getting worried! I've heard it's a trek down to the bottom, with leaches! Will we be able to do this with 3 small children (3, 6, 8)? is it worth going if we skip the trek?

Also read that you can't get to the top in the monsoon (now). And that there is a good view from the Inspection Bungalow, but no details about where that is.

I have no idea whether you have left for the place, if not, please do not venture trekking down with small kids.

Leaches as well skiddy & need to be tricky to walk down there.

I would advice you just have a view from that VIEWPOINT. Itz enough for time being - why take risk ?

Thanks for your reply. We did decide not to do it in the end. Perhaps a pity - we have after all being looking forward to doing this for a while, but it just didn't seem worth putting small children in the car for 3 hours each way, to just see it from the viewing platform.

In any case instead we went in boat into the backwaters - makes the Kerala backwaters seem like a waste of time. Much prettier (and cleaner) here.
