Jazz in Bangalore
Jazz in Bangalore
After spending more than a week, searching & asking on various websites for a nice pub which plays Jazz.
I finally found one yesterday...its small cozy place on the Brigade Road called 'Pecos'.
Its on 3 floors...and very small..ground floor can accomodate only 10 at a time (sitting)..plus many stand and drink...yes Only Beer is served..no rum, whisky and no cocktails.
The music which is played there is from the CDs and Tapes donated by the Patrons of the place..and they are many..I met one who has been coming there from last 15years..just for the music and beer. Many guests carry there own Cds and request to play it (can be done if you are bit early..like 7ish). The place is not loud and you can talk while listening to Trilok Gurtu, Gene Kurupa, Jimi Hendrix, Doors, Bruce Klauber, Ustad AlahRakha, Zakir Hussain (fusion)..and the normal stuff, which is not heard in other pubs.
The whole place has an amazing feeling of a big family..almost everyone knows everyone..and if you not (like me) its easy to become a part of the group ( for this credit also goes to the limited sitting place and extremely accomodating guests).
Some of the people I met includes, one girl trying to keep the artist in her alive while working for a management consulting org, memebers of a local fusion/rock band, a traveller from Australia, 2 japanese girls..who could not stay there long, Media consultant, advertising think tanks, few young college guys & girls, ....
Oh I'm already planning my route to go there today again...anyone in B'Lore and wanna join??????

@stevenhyde1, good that you did
Heard about Pecos, haven't been there yet, I'm still relatively new to Bangalore.
There's another place in Indiranagar called Take5, more of a pub than a bar, plays mostly smoothjazz and music from live bands regularly, and the beer collection and sizzlers aren't half as bad
