In And Around Mysore : Trip Report

It's funny, last year on a jungle trek around Madikeri, my guide points with apparent disgust at all the piles of plastic and refuse left behind by visitors here and there. (And its famous Abbey Falls for instance is literally covered in plastic bottles.)

Sure enough soon after, we sit on a pristine hillslope and sharing some cookies and stuff he'd brought along for us. So where do the wrappings go...? Right, you guessed it.

It is sometimes a little hard to comprehend

Yes, I noticed that with a ranger at the local Borivli National Park here in Mumbai who has become our friend. When I protested, he grinned and sheepishly put his empty sweetie wrapper in my plastic litter bag!

Ditto with our local friends in a remote, pristine area of the Nilgiris.

What can one say? This littering mentality must change. I am ashamed to admit that we Indians are the world leaders in littering.

We are looking for a good hotel / resort that is just about outside Mysore - max of 30 to 40 kms from Mysore. Please do suggest.
