Hyderabad to Bijapur

Hi,
I am planning to do a weekend trip to Bijapur from Hyderabad.
I guess there is only one train to Bijapur direct. What other options do I have? It's 420 Km by road. Buses?
What should the itinerary be? Is it possible to fit ALL the attractions in 36 hrs?
I am planning the trip this weekend.....so please think quick.

420km is a long journey, by train it may take up to 10 hours, by bus maybe less time but the ride is massacring

It tales a full day to see the main stuff in Bijapur, from Gol Gumbaz at one end to Ibrahim Rosa at the other. Rent bikes, or a tonga for the day. Beware- Ferocious "one pen" gangs

You can rule out train journey as getting reservation at such a short notice is not possible during these holiday period. There should be non-A/C buses to Bijapur but best is to drive down if you have car. 5.5 hours to Solapur and two more to Bijapur if you choose early morning start. On top, you wouldn't have to haggle for local transport.

You'll be surrounded by kids asking for 'one pen'.

Some think it's a new way to beg, and when there are many kids doing it, it is a real pain and seems organised.

Mmmm.... I don't about about your budget but car hire would be very costly unless are 3-4 people sharing the cost. No idea about bike rental. Self-driven car may require paperwork but a chauffer-driven car is easily gettable. Ask cab service near your house. Otherwise, you can fall back on buses. The road atleast upto Solapur is quite good (you should be able to take naps in bus). Or if you could spare daytime, then catch Konark express at 1145, reach solapur 1850, proceed to Bijapur by road and reach by 2200. Ofcourse, you will have to book your stay in advance.

I am sharing the travel and the pricing is turning out decent.
Any suggestions on accommodation? WIll be in bijapur from Saturday morning to Sunday evening.
Decent budget hotels preferred with per head expenses upto Rs.200 per day.
3 guys and two girls will be travelling. so say a 3 bedder room and a 2 bedder room.

as for bike rentals: Bijapur is flat as a ravi dosa, and any local bike rental there should do the trick.

been ages since I've visited my "Alma Mater" so got no hotel info for yas

reminder to self- revisit Bijapur!

In January we stayed in hotel Sanmat, opposite Gol Gumnaz. For a double room we payed 350 rs. We made a city tour with a horse and carriage for 250 rs., it took half a day.
