Hospet to Gokarna by train.
I am trying to find a train from Hampi (Hospet) to Gokarna Road on either Saturday 3rd May or Sunday 4th May but can't find anything. Is there not a direct train from Hampi (Hospet) to Gokarna? Do i need a connection?

A bus would be a better option, I'm struggling to find availability on the Saturday train from Hospet to Madgaon, but even if I did, there isn't a great connection as the Hospet-Madgaon train can easily run late by a few hours.....sorry, more later, I'm short of time and have found a fault in the Indian Railways database, so more time is needed to check details.

Train 2847 departs Hospet on thursday 1st and saturday 3rd May (doesn't run on Sunday) at 06.30 and gets to Madgaon at 13.43
The train has 2A, 3A and Sleeper Class, but only has availability (04) in 2A on thursday, and no availability on saturday. However, and this is where I found a fault on the Indian Railways website, a train (7603) also departs Kacheguda (Hyderabad) and part of this train is attached to train 2847 (at Dronachellam) and taken to Madgaon, so I wanted to search for availability in those carriages, but the Indian Railways website didn't show this train. I could find it using www.erail.in, so I double checked all availability in both sections of the train in both directions (just to confirm the train still has carriages attached to 2847), and all seems OK. so...some carriages of train 7603 depart Hospet at 06.30 and gets to Madgaon at 13.43 Availability 2A - 1st May = 16, 3rd May = 07 SL - 1st May = 41, 3rd May = 35 If you have any trouble finding this train when you try to book, or find the train has a destination other than Vasko (after Madgaon), try looking for train 7603A or 7603B, if you still have problems, reply to this thread and I'll see what I can find out. This train could easily run late though, as train 2847 starts it's journey in Kolkata. You'll maybe have to get a bus to Karwar from Madgaon, then another bus to Gokarna. However, if your train to Madgaon runs close to time..... Train KR1 departs Madgaon daily at 14:25 and gets to Gokarna Rd station at 16:04 (2S). KR1 very often (I've been told "ALWAYS" by the staff on the train and a tour guide who regularly uses the train) departs Madgaon an hour late, so this is worth remembering. Good luck. |

I guess i can't get a train straight from Hampi(Hospet) to Gokarna. I have to go back to Madgaon to get down to Gokarna? If the Hampi to Madgaon train runs late and the Madgaon to Gokarna is on time... i am buggered.
