Hampi, good recommendation please

Hi , I have heard that the "other" side of the river, in Hampi, is visually nicer and perhaps a more relaxed and laid back vibe. We are keen to stay there, but as we are traveling with our 18mth old son, Jackson, we are keen to stay in a hut with a bathroom attached or somewhere else that is cleaner and safe for him.

We like to chill, in a quiet spot, with some areas for JD to explore, but also be close to the action, is this possible? Happy to pay more money if it means being apart of the action, but still having a clean quiet place to rest at night.

Have always loved hammocks, slow beers at sunset and cool people to chat with...but our son will need to feel comfortable and safe. Hope you have some recommendation's and contact details so we can book.

Oh, did I mention we will be arriving on th 1/1/08, so will def. need to book

Hey there,

You'll need a take a train to Hospet then a rickshaw to Hampi itself. Once you're in hampi you can cross the river until dark and right there you'll find a good selection of good standard accomodation - it is more chilled over the other side of the river and you can even get a place with a swimming pool. Slow beer could be a problem as Hampi is a dry town! but I don't think you'll have any problems with the wee man.
