It's raining cats and dogs in Kodachadri. If you are planning a trek and you are an amatuer, please do not go for it now, else if it's a jeep ride upto PWD bungalow, then you can give it a shot. Malnad in Monsoon is paradise on earth.

Alternative, plan an offbeat holiday - Konkan Rail Journey during daytime (Mangalore - Goa or Goa - Roha). You'll definitely be spellbound by nature's beauty.

If you like the rains, go to Goa, Kerala, Ooty, Coorg, Chikmaglur etc..

To OP :-

As you are from Bangalore you may know already on the Extreme Monsoon but to reiterate

It's raining very heavily in Western Ghats, Coorg, Wayanad and ooty !There are problems in Coastal karnataka [ Mangalore, udupi , Kollur and Bangalore- Mangalore Train is already cancelled due to landslide which blocked Train travel between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya road railways stations], Road is under few feet of water between Madikeri - Bhagamandala and Madikeri - Virajpet and Bhagamandala is totally cutoff from other parts of Karnataka for past 2 to 3 Days !. Kabini Dam is overflowing and road is cut off from HD Kote to Bavali [ Mysore- Mananthavadi highway which run through periphery of Nagarahole NP] and Mysore KRS Dam is getting copious inflow and it already crossed 100 feet + out of Total capacity of around 124 feet ]!

As of now, planning out trekking in any of Kodachadri [ Dakshina kannada near Kollur] ,Green route Trek [ Sakleshpur- Kukke Subrahmanya ] , Brahmagiri [ Both from Iruppu Falls End - Karnataka & Thirunelli temple End - Kerala] , Thadiyanmol [ Coorg] might be a risky affair !

Yes this is the current Situation and if things becomes normal by another 15 days, you can take a call as the case may be.

May be "Jog Falls" might be one option !

Just thought of updating the current Situation [As on 07/17/2009] which might help others also who plan for a trip in these areas !

Hope this helps

Velu

May be :-

Bangalore - Mysore - Talakad - Shivasamudra Waterfalls-Somnathpur-Mysore- Himavad Gopalaswamy betta- Bandipura NP-Mysore Tourist places & Shrirangapatna Tourist places !

I did shared few photos & info on Gopalaswamy Betta over here which will give you an idea of that place. Best OR ideal time for this place is to reach the place by around 7 am to explore at it's scenic best and we can easily spend Half- a - Day at the top !

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...amy-hills.html

As I said ooty , Kodai & Munnar this friday might not be an ideal option for exploring ! Even otherwise also you can't cover ooty , Kodai & Munnar in a 4 Day trip [ I mean we cannot experience Or Cover the places properly].

Hope this helps !

Have a Safe Trip Ahead !

I do not have any contact information as such. You could do a Google and best is to book from Forest Department office, Bangalore and anyways you could try out once you reach Bandipur too [ But Normally forest dept Guesthouses will be booked well-in-advance].

Just be aware, in any of the Forest dept Guesthouses / rooms of Bandipura Or Mudumalai Or Nagarahole NP [ Non-Veg & Alcohol are strictly banned as Far as I am aware] and you need to be just in your room from 6 pm to 6 am and not possible to roam around !! [Except if Night safari is planned ]

If you want to be in more relaxed enviroment, you could try out any lodges in Masinagudi / Bokkapuram Area which are 5 kms From Mudumalai NP [ Mudumalai NP is 10 kms from Bandipura NP] and again Resorts / Lodges out here are normally high-end!!

Also you can try out for forest department Guesthouses of Mudumalai NP too [ Again No online reservation possible and should do it through Forest department,Tamilnadu] - There are Forest department Guesthouses on "Mudumalai NP to Gudalur Road" but again it will be at deserted / Calm / Secluded place near to which nothing will be available !

Also there is Hotel TTDC Lodge [ Governmet of Tamilnadu] very near to Mudumalai NP . This also cannot be booked online. This will be Dull , Calm complex but budget and restaurant is Average.

Best of Luck

hi persan,
You can contact Aranya bhavan near malleswaram 18th cross for booking in bandipur/nagarahole. I am sure non-veg food is cooked in bandipur/madumalai by the forest departmnet cook.
